Beautiful Boston Harbor Engagement Session that Will Make You Fall In Love

We met Lauren and Dylan at the Boston Harbor Hotel on a very cold but sunny day in early Spring. We were all excited about this Boston Harbor engagement shoot because it is also where we will be capturing their wedding in just a few weeks on April 30th, 2016.

We started our session by getting a quick tour of all the different locations and fun spots where we will be celebrating different events of their wedding. We couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was…everywhere you turned was just a gorgeous harbor view of Boston.Boston Harbor Engagement10After talking about the details of the ceremony and getting warmed up inside, we headed outside to the windy city weather for some awesome Boston Harbor engagement photos. And even though it was so cold, we had a lot of fun.Boston Harbor Engagement1Boston in such a great backdrop for an engagement shoot. Everywhere we turned was another perfect location for photos, and Lauren and Dylan made our job easy! These two have so much fun with one another, all we did was laugh the whole time.Boston Harbor Engagement2Boston Harbor Engagement3After warming up with some images behind the hotel and in the empty pathway by the harbor, we headed out to the front of the hotel and caught this gorgeous image of Dylan dipping his soon-to-be bride in the late afternoon sun! We are seriously in love with this picture!

Then we looped back around the cityscape towards the dock and captured some intimate images of this happy couple on the stairs and staring out at the water. It was easy to see how truly in love Lauren and Dylan are.Boston Harbor Engagement5Boston Harbor Engagement6Of course, we passed the boat where the reception will be celebrated and we had to point out how much fun the wedding will be! We are sure it will be absolutely extravagant!Boston Harbor Engagement7Lauren and Dylan can’t even look at one another without smiling and it is clear to see in the beautiful photos that these two are gearing up for a marriage full of love and laughter. How To Prepare for My Engagement Photo Shoot

engagement photo shoot1
 What to Expect
  • Most of us get a little uncomfortable in front of the camera. We start off your session with some tips to help you look your best. We will help you shine!
  • Plan for one to two hours. It takes a few moments to get comfortable, so we plan for a 1-2 hour session. Please arrive 15 minutes early!
  • Get ready for fun! We want to capture your real smile and love getting a little silly so we can bring some moments to life. Whether we are using props, playing games, or telling jokes…get your smiles ready!
How to Prepare to Look Your Best
  • Bring touch up essentials: foundation, blush, lip stick, hairspray, hair clips, etc.
  • Bring extra clothing…it’s always better to have more than you need than not enough!
  • Be natural, be YOU. You’ll enjoy your photos for years to come if you remember to keep your look true to yourself. If you are getting your hair and make up done professionally, keep it simple and natural.
  • Iron and hang your clothes…wrinkles don’t fade in photographs
  • Avoid shorts and sleeveless shirts…large areas of skin can be distracting to the eye
  • Avoid clothing with logos and large images/texts and colors that don’t match
  • Girls: Avoid chipped nail polish
  • Guys: Think about how you want your facial hair to lookengagement photo shoot2What to Wear: Faces are our focal point of photographs, but what you wear can play a big role in how it all comes together
  • Dress like yourself. Plan to wear something you would normally wear, that can represent who you are all the time, and what you feel comfortable in! You want to look back at your session and see you being YOU.
  • Coordinated color palette. This might sound scary, but it’s not as difficult as it sounds. Choosing a color palette that everyone wears colors from will create a cohesive look that’s still natural.
  • There are many ways to choose a color palette!
  1. Choose 1 neutral color and 2 pop colors. For example: grey, pink and navy blue
  2. Choose 1 color and wear different shades of that color.
  3. Choose 1 pop item (like a dress or shirt) and use that as a base for the color palette to choose your other colors from. There is an example of this to the below.

engagement photos4Most of us get professional photos done once or twice a lifetime, so make the most of your session by choosing the right outfits that can suit your every need. If you’re still unsure about what to wear, bring some extra clothes and let us help you choose! Think about bringing something:

  • Casual
  • Formal/dressy
  • Fun and unique
Tips: Don’t forget to accessorize your outfits and add variety. Wear outfits that fit in your location (urban, natural, etc.) and bring outfits that you feel great in! Outfits that are flattering and “in style” will make you feel and look good. You will want to look back at your engagement photo shoot year after year, so wear your favorite shirt, or pair jeans, and bring your smile!

Our 4 Step Video Production Process

A lot goes into making a video for our clients. In fact, we have a whole production process that we go through with each and every one of our clients. This is so we make sure absolutely everything you want in your video is made to your liking and needs. Here we have explained to you our step-by-step video production process. videoproductionprocess1
  1. Idea – First you fill out a fun and lovely form to let us know what you want. From there we meet and go over the scope of the work and what you are looking for in your video. You tell us the basic concept and ideas: What kind of video are you looking to make? Who is your audience? What is your overall message? And, where will this be distributed? After we agree on all concepts we move onto pre-production.
 videoproductionprocess2
  1. Pre-Production – A lot goes into our pre-production process. We make sure every single detail is planned out. Here is what you can expect for this step of our video production process:
  • Mood Board: This is the initial inspiration for your video. We create a board with the look, feel, and inspirational examples for your project.
  • Audio: We’ll create a list of 2-3 songs for you to choose from for your project. Audio is actually 50% of your video. It sets up the mood and emotion of your message. We will also talk about voice overs, if needed.
  • Locations: Together we will discuss possible filming locations and schedule a walk through visit to each place.
  • Script and Storyboard: We take all our mood board notes and answers to questions we’ve asked you to write a rough script and create a visual storyboard. We’ll need to finalize these details before moving forward.
  • Actors: We will work together to determine who will be a good fit for the project and reach out to get commitments.
  • Production Schedule: We will take our script, storyboard, and location availability and create a detailed shot list and production schedule. Here is an example of our production schedule:
    • Call sheet: We will create a call sheet that will include all details for everyone involved. This includes call times, contact info for everyone involved, location addresses, production timeline.
    • Shot list: We will map out every single shot that we need to create your video. This is why it is extremely important that you sign off on the story board and script before we create the shot list.
    • Production Review Call: We will have a final production call with all who are involved to ensure that we are ready to go when filming day arrives.
 videoproductionprocess3
  1. Production – This is the FUN part! On production days our team will do what we do best. At this point there should be nothing changed in our plans. We will carry out the production with or without you on site because the vision and direction is very clear. We will make sure to get everything done in the allotted time frame. We also keep in mind that some non-actors may have a difficult time once the lights and cameras are set up. We always plan for this and will have time to do as many practice takes as needed to make sure everyone is comfortable.
 videoproductionprocess4
  1. Post Production – An important part of our video production process, we have made an easy to read timeline for what you can expect:
  • Back up and organize
  • Sync Audio and Create Projects
  • The edit
  • Audio finalization
  • Color correction
  • Add animation and text
  • Review/submit for final changes
  • Final edits/sign off
videoproductionprocess5And lastly we have the delivery. We wrap everything up! You get the exact video you want and we all high five! Do you have an idea for a video project? We’d love to talk more about your ideas and how we can bring them to life through our video production process. Contact us to schedule your consultation today!

We learned about their caring and generous nature and found ways to make their new personalized web design not only serve their clients but serve their business as well. We created custom forms to help them streamline their business process and gave them an easy solution to update their obituaries page.personalized web design 2Our design team put together a beautiful personalized web design that featured the historic Farwell Funeral Home, soft watercolor textures, and comforting roses. The website needed to have very simple navigation, so we focused on creating a clean and airy design that is simple to read.personalized web design 4After spending a great deal of time with Judy and the Farwell Funeral Service family, we were overwhelmed with how selfless and giving they are. “How may we serve you?” is their motto, and behind everything they do, they put their clients and families first. Baby girl photos that are just pure perfection

We were so excited to photograph baby Aria and her loving, happy, busy family! They won a gift certificate for a photo shoot through a donation raffle for a mutual friend while Leanne was pregnant. After Leanne found out she won she called us, super excited, to schedule a date! We couldn’t wait to meet this adorable family, and when the day finally came we traveled to their house in Massachusetts for these baby girl photos.
We were welcomed at the door by this charming family, Aria was so happy and smiley, and their dog, Baxter was excited for visitors.

4 Tips on How to Achieve Your Blog Writing Goals

Are you looking to start your own blog writing but not sure where to begin? Starting your own blog can be super overwhelming and can seem easier said than done. That is why so many people fail before they even begin. But we want you to succeed! Therefore, starting small is definitely the best way to begin. Here are a few simple steps to get you started on your blogging journey. blog writing tips11.  Start small and set achievable goals. You wouldn’t get on a bike and expect to ride it 100 miles, right? You need to pace yourself and start slow. Blog writing can be a really daunting task if you think of the big picture without breaking things down.  Begin by writing every other week in the first month, then work your way up from there. Don’t set yourself up for failure, plan big, but set goals.
blog writing tips22.  Keep writing with no promise of return. You can’t expect that your first blog will be read by hundreds of people. You need to build a reputation and a following, both of which take time. So again, set goals and keep writing to gain momentum.  The more you write, the more content for visitors to find, enjoy, and share and the more opportunities you create to connect with an audience.
blog writing tips33.  Be specific and make your goals measurable. In the American Journal for Health Promotion, researchers found that the more specific you make your goal, the more likely you are to achieve it. For example, instead of saying “I am going to blog more,” make your goal, “I am going to blog once a week.” If you are more specific you will know exactly what you need to do to achieve your blogging goals.  The more specific, the more attainable the goal (which is great advice, in general)!
blog writing tips44.  Plan! Start planning better, which may be a goal in and of itself! Plan what you will write about weekly or monthly. You will be able to organize your thoughts and ideas, you will have done more research on your topic, therefore making it over all better content.
Now that you have some valuable ideas of how to write your blog, start setting some small, specific, measurable, relevant goals! Feel free to get more inspiration for your blog writing goals at this awesome blog from CoSchedule (which is an amazing tool for you WordPress users out there!) And if you need help, that’s what we are here for! We can help you with blog topics for your company, how to set achievable goals, and where to start it all. Contact us today for more information!
